Come celebrate all things Italian with a delicious dinner including an Arcosanti tradition of pasta served in a wheelbarrel and a performance featuring vocalist Melina Kalomas and pianist Sonya Lee for an evening of Italian and Italy-inspired delights including beloved arias by Puccini and Catalani, to Liszt's "Sonetto" inspired by Francesco Petrarca.

Sonya Kumiko Lee has performed as a soloist and chamber musician at renowned halls throughout the U.S. and abroad including Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, Create Center Hall in Osaka, Japan, and the Salle des Colonnes in Fontainebleau, France among others. Recent highlights include performances at the Samueli Hall at the Ocean Institute in Dana Point with actress Melina Kalomas, a guest artist appearance with iPalpiti International Artists at the Bing Theater (LACMA) which was broadcast on KUSC, and a performance on the legendary CD503 Steinway belonging to Vladimir Horowitz at the Marcus Hurlbut Theater in San Juan Capistrano, and a four-hands concert with pianist Vadim Serebryany in Encinitas, CA. Ms. Lee’s affinity for rock music has led to collaborations with Rivers Cuomo, the brilliant lead singer of the alternative rock band, Weezer. Ms. Lee’s performances with Mr. Cuomo have aired on Fresh Air with Terry Gross on NPR, Sirius Satellite Radio, Clear Channel, on Weezer’s album “Hurley”, and DVD release, “Not Alone: Rivers Cuomo and Friends.” Ms. Lee can next be heard in concerts at the National Opera Center in NYC, and in Hokkaido, Japan. Ms. Lee is a graduate of The Juilliard School where she studied with pianists Emanuel Ax and Oxana Yablonskaya.

Melina Kalomas has dazzled audiences as a vocalist and actress at major theaters and concert halls throughout the U.S. and abroad including the Pantages Theater in Los Angeles, Segerstrom Hall at The Orange County Performing Arts Center, the Cadillac Palace Theater in Chicago, and The Boston Opera House. This past summer, Ms. Kalomas gave a tour-de-force performance in “Grey Gardens the Musical” as the alternate for Little Edie opposite Tony Award-Winner, Betty Buckley at the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles. Other favorite performances include Ms. Kalomas’s critically acclaimed debut at the South Coast Repertory Theater in “The Light in the Piazza” (Franca) at the Orange County Performing Arts Center, “Into the Woods” (Florinda) at the Plummer Auditorium, “Beauty and the Beast” (Babette) at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach, National Tours of "Young Frankenstein", "Camelot" (Nimue), and "Les Misérables" (Madeleine), Mary Zimmerman's "Arabian Nights" (Perfect Love) at the Berkeley Repertory Theater and Kansas City Repertory Theater, "Zhivago" at the La Jolla Playhouse, Puccini's "La Bohème" with Opera Pacific, the West Coast premier of "A Man of No Importance" (Mrs. Patrick), and “Desert Song” with the Fullerton Civic Light Opera where she won the Drama- Logue Award for Best Supporting Actress.Television credits include "As the World Turns" and NBC's "GRIMM". A native of Orange County, CA, Ms. Kalomas is a graduate of the School of Drama at Carnegie Mellon University where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
