Arcosanti - An Urban Laboratory in the Arizona Desert.

                     Laark Productions presents
            William Shakespeare visits Arcosanti

Fair is foul and foul is fair...

Macbeth is the story of a soldier turned tyrant who wins power through murder and deceit. His choice to seek witches and ask their counsel is one of the great tragic decisions in Shakespeare. Set in Scotland in 1050, Macbeth is the story of a terrible series of murders committed at a time when murder was the accepted succession plan for Scots kings. But Macbeth takes this bloody tradition to new lows as he abandons all semblance of civility and kingly honor, killing with callous indifference. Macbeth and his wife pay a high price for their evil ways, but not before they set Scotland on a path to chaos.

Laark Productions came into being as the combined artistic and business concept of Karla and Lane Burkitt who have participated in the performing arts in Arizona for the last 30 years. Northern Arizona seems the perfect place for a production company with a focus on quality of production values and quality of experience for the actors, crew and audience. We enjoy Shakespeare's plays and A Midsummer Night's Dream produced in partnership with the Highlands Center for Natural History was an ideal launch for our new endeavor. We support the mission of the Highlands Center to " children and adults discover the wonders of nature and become wise caretakers of the land" and felt there was no better way than to join in their annual fund raiser for 2014: Shakespeare in the Pines.  In 2015 we partnered with the Highlands Center, Camp Verde Library and Arcosanti to develop new audiences and share our love of theater with our Arizona neighbors. 2016 launched a new relationship with Yavapai College in Camp Verde as we brought our first tragedy, Hamlet, to their outdoor stage.

Karla Burkitt teaches theater to grades k-8 at Franklin Phonetic School in Prescott Valley, AZ. She holds a B.A. degree in theater from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa. Her resume includes authorship of multiple plays, directing scores of productions, and performances such as Isabella (Measure for Measure) and Titania (A Midsummer Night's Dream). She worked for ten years with Arizona Classical Theater's Arizona Shakespeare Festival--six as an artistic associate--before the organization relocated to Phoenix.

Lane Burkitt is Director of Professional Services for ISM Services in Tempe, Arizona. He holds an MBA from Arizona State University and a Masters of International Management from Thunderbird School of International Business. Lane has worked with Karla on dozens of productions in Prescott, acting, directing, co-writing and specializing in technical direction. He travels extensively for work and leverages technology to support the work of Laark Productions.

The other members of Laark Productions are our friends, family, cast members, technical crew, and other partners who work on our productions. If you want to join... contact us at
